It has been some time since we have had a noodle house in Abilene. But now, after a long wait, a newcomer has entered the Key City restaurant scene. Mian Bistro is located at 6410 Buffalo Gap Road, just past Antilley Road. A quaint restaurant with an open kitchen, Mian is Abilene’s newest noodle house and Asian restaurant.
There is something special about a savory soup. Soup can make you feel like you are home. It can warm you up on a cold night. Soup can refresh you on a hot day and help you recover from the night before.
The night before I went to Mian, I had a few too many adult beverages and woke up feeling a little under the weather. A quick look at the menu and I noticed the spicy noodle soup. Let me tell you, this soup was amazing! Not only did it taste unbelievable, but I felt like a new man after eating it. The soup had the perfect balance of heat vs. savory ingredients. There was plenty of protein in the soup in the form of shrimp and chicken as well as vegetables.
Another dish that stood out on the menu was the ramen. The base of soups or noodles is the broth and Mian has done it right. The soup was savory while being refreshing at the same time. The noodles were delicious and the meat was tasty and tender.
There are several more items on the noodle menu such as curry noodle, udon, and pho. Mian also has a wide choice of appetizers to choose from.
We sampled the spring rolls and scallion pancakes, but they’re so are many more items available, such as skewered beef or chicken, pot stickers, wontons, and more.
Just when you think you are out of choices, there are tons of entree items. There are curry dishes, pan fried shrimp, sweet and spicy fish, and so much more on their Asian-inspired menu. No matter what you choose, you will not be disappointed. Everything is cooked to order in their open kitchen where you can smell all the aromatics and spices being combined to make their signature dishes.
