“Hardin-Simmons University has been ranked as #32 in Christian Universities Online’s 2016 list of the “50 Most Beautiful Christian Colleges and Universities in the US.”

The ranking mentions HSU’s “classic brick architecture” and its signature copper, dome-topped Linebery Clock Tower. The website also cites the tree-lined campus and the school’s well-designed layout. Other landmark features at HSU include the gazebo, Reflection Pond, Legett Unity Bridge, and fountain.

Many campus-wide beautification and building projects are underway and planned as part of HSU’s Transformation 2020 program. These include new buildings such as the new Wilkins Wellness Center and a new special events center, updating of existing facilities, and new pedestrian walkways. Hardin-Simmons was founded in 1891 and the entire campus encompasses more than 200 acres. The main campus sits on 96 acres.

The ranking includes schools that are members or member eligible of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. Each school was evaluated and scored on continuity of campus, architectural style, signature buildings, and natural setting. The total score from the criteria was used to rank the schools.
