The first Tuesday of each month you can catch local food trucks at The Food Park in Downtown Abilene for an event called Food Truckers For a Cause.
Classic Sliders, Hearts BBQ, Dad’s Ice Cream and H7 Tex Mex held the first event drawing a great crowd raising $300 for Rescue the Animals, SPCA.
Tuesday, May 1st is the second event with a percentage of proceeds benefiting Abilene Hope Haven, which helps people experiencing homelessness and provides them with basic needs.
There will also be live music and a raffle with prizes including a 60 minute massage donated by Jen Aviles LMT, FREE oil change donated by KB Automotive, as well as gift cards donated by Fox Coffee, Cracker Barrel, and Cup of Joe Vintage Coffee Shop in Winters.
Will and Josh Stapp of Texas Doughboys are in process of taking over management of The Food Park in Downtown and do not charge the food truckers to use the park for this specific event. From 5:30-8:00pm Hearts BBQ, Classic Sliders, Dad’s Ice Cream, H7 Tex Mex and Abilene’s newest dessert trailer, Atom’s Italian Ice will be participating at The Food Park on S. 1st. & Sycamore.
Atom’s Italian Ice serves freshly made Italian Ice. If you’re unfamiliar, Italian Ice is a sweetened frozen dessert made with real ingredients, using the same process ice cream is made, by freezing the ingredients while mixing. Very different from a classic Snow Cone or Shaved Ice! Check out Atom’s Italian Ice on Facebook for future locations!
Please come out and support local businesses giving back to the Abilene Community! See you there!
